Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won 31 Chairmanship and 329 Councillorship positions in the just concluded Akwa Ibom Local Government Elections.
A statement by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC), signed and made available to Ibom Telegraph by Head of of Legal Matters and Public Affairs, Dr Faith Umoh, has confirmed it.
According to the statement, “AKISIEC wishes to state that the Local Government Elections conducted on Saturday, December 2,2017, was done in line with the relevant laws. That the said election was contented by12 political parties and the PDP won 31 Chairmanship and 329 Councillorship seats respectively. This statement confirms the announcement/declarations made by the authorized Returning Officers in various Wards and Local Government Areas.”
The statement said detailed scores as submitted by the Commission’s “Field Officers will be made available by the Field Operations/Logistics Department. ”
“The Commission express appreciation to the stakeholders and good people of Akwa Ibom for the good conduct exhibited during and after the Elections.”
The statement further said “Chairmen-Elect of the 31 L.G.A's and the 329 Councillors-Elect are hereby invited to the Commission on Monday, December 4, 2017, by 12 noon prompt for the collection of Certificate of Returns.”
